Docking

The docking bar in XT2 is to the right of the main toolbar and is demonstrated in the picture below. The docking bar is for storing quick access to various components of a project including plug-ins, the mixer, sequencers etc..

The docking bar becomes like a configurable and quick tabbed navigation system through the current project. To switch tabbed views is simply a case of clicking on the appropriate tab.

Using the Docking Bar

Other than simply navigating to the appropriate docking "tab" using a mouse click, it is also possible to cycle through the tabs using the F1 - move left and F2 - move right keys. Additionally, when hovering over the docking bar, the middle-mouse wheel can be used for equally quick navigation.

To add a plug-in or component to the docking bar, is a case of right-clicking in the title bar of the component's window and selecting Dock. There will be an option to add the item docked as a New Page or within an existing docking tab. This can also be accomplished by right-clicking the component in the comps window. It is possible to dock in a new page (creating a new tab) or to dock within an existing tab - for example a few mastering effects may all be docked in the same tab titled "Mastering".

A newly docked page will appear to the right of the last tab and will immediately be selectable.

To un-dock an item from the docking bar, simply right-click in the title bar, or on the component in the comps window and select Un-dock.

Right-Clicking on a tab will give access to its context-sensitive menu. Here there is an option to Add - add a blank tab to the docking bar, Delete - un-dock the selected tab from the docking bar and Rename.. - to change the name of the selected docking tab.

It is possible to rearrange docking tabs within the docking bar. A simple click-drag will suffice. However, it is not possible to change the position of the Comps tab which will always remain in the first position.
